How do I get the smokers smell out of a used end table?

I got this end table at the thrift store yesterday and it stinks like smoke, which I didn’t notice until I got it home. It is giving me a headache to sit near it. It has a marble top and wood base. I cannot use anything with perfumes either since I get headaches from those too. Any tips?

wash it very well with a gentle cleaner. Sometimes you can leave baking soda (or clay cat litter) on damp surfaces overnight to absorb odors, but they can be a pain to clean up, themselves.
