How do I remove liquid softener perfume odor in washing machine dispenser?

I acquired a nice top loader washing machine that had a little build up of liquid softener in the plastic dispenser and the tunnel inside the plastic agitator. We scrubbed residue out with a brush, soaked in bleach for hours, and the agitator and dispenser are spotless inside and out. But the perfume odor is still strong just in the dispenser and agitator. The machine itself has no odor at all, but I ran bleach through it anyway. I have asthma and can’t tolerate these sweet perfume odors in the house, so the agitator is outside now. How can I remove these odors that have penetrated into the plastic? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try a cup of white vinegar in the washer and run it on hot with no clothes in it. Pour the vinegar into the dispenser and then just run the machine.
