Going to Malaysia can someone help me out with shopping, who lives there or who has been there?

Hi i live in Australia and im visiting Kuala Lumpur and Penang. I was just wondering about the designer goods and are they cheaper than in Australia, if so how much cheaper? The brands im interested in at KL are nike, oakely, adidas, rayban, prada, dolce and gabanna, all sorts of designer breands. In KL i will also be looking for designer makeup and perfume are they cheaper aswell? How about electronics and acessories for things such as PS3′s and DSi’s? In penang can you get DVD’s cheap, and are the fakes over there of good quality?
Where do you think the best place to shop is at? (shopping center)
Can you please give me some ideas of prices of the items if possible thanks =)
By the way im a quater to half Malaysian because my Dad was born there and thats where i got my nice tanned features from im soooo grateful! Its nice to visit my place of heritidge!
Thank you sooooooooooooooooo much! xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I’m from Canada and Aussie’s currency is almost the same. When I was vacationing there, I had the same idea as u. Thinking that things might be cheaper and our exchange rate would be an advantage. But the branded apparels are the same price or more expensive than canada. And if u’re looking for electronic, just forget about it. Electronics like PS3, DSi are twice as expensive or non existence. I was checking out american movies DVD or TV series box set; they are the same price or more expensive. If u want cheap stuff, u have to go to the knock off market (Petalling Street). But beware of the sale people. They will try to con ya since they know u’re a tourist. Just keep on bargaining and pretend to walk off until they offer u a better price ;) And if he’s not gonna sell it to u at that price, other stalls will have the same stuff and they will sell it to u),

There are lots of malls in KL, but once u’ve been to one, it’s basically the same type of stores inside. But I would recommend going to Suria KLCC, Pavilion (that’s a must and my cousin works there), Sungai Wang Plaza (it’s a must for neat girly stuff and some electronics) and Sunway Pyramid (but this is not in the inner city so u need to take the cab there)
