Perfume Bergamot
which should I use (perfume)?
I want to make a perfume, and I already have one essential oil. The problem is, it is bergamot. Bergamot is usually only used as a top note, and I was wondering if that is enough to be used on its own, or if I need to buy some more. If I DO need to buy more, which oils should I get?
It’s fine to use on it’s own. Bergamot is pretty complex .. even though it’s a top note, it has a few different layers. I’m not a fan of citruses, except for bergamot. It’s one of my favorite oils!
But, it’s much more fun to blend oils. I like bergamot with deep earthy oils like patchouli and vetiver, and flowery oils like ylang ylang and jamine. It’s also nice with vanilla-ish oils.
Do you have a health food store near you? Usually they have essential oils, with testers, that you can experiment with. Open a couple bottles and smell different oils together (don’t mix up the caps!). If you don’t know essential oils well, I think it’s best to test them out before buying them.
