Do hamsters favor one human gender over the other?
My boyfriend and I got a new hamster(male) 3 weeks ago and we’ve been trying to hand tame it. It seems like our hamster prefers being in my boyfriend’s hand over mine. The hamster does his best to avoid contact with my skin, but has no problem with my boyfriend’s. I don’t wash with scented soap, wear perfume, and always wash my hands before trying to handle him.
I’ve seen that sometimes dogs favor one gender over the other and was just curious if anyone else has run into that with hamsters.
Gosh… it’s hard to tell.
We had a guinea pig when I was a kid that would let my sister hold it before me because she was always warmer.
Perhaps body temp. might play a role?!
