Asthma not taken seriously?

I have has asthma for 2 1/2 years, and I havn’t had many bad flare ups until about 3 months ago. I told my mom, nurse, and the doctor, and they say there is nothing wrong, that I’m pretending. I know that I am not pretending, because it it is pretty hard to pretend to be wheezing loudly, cough- wheezing almost all of the time, always feeling sick, and not being able to be around my friends, because their strong perfumes and colones make me go into an attack. How can I convince my mother that there is something wrong without yelling at me even more? How can I stop the perfume flareups? Chalk also causes me to go into an attack, as well as cold and warm weather, mold, and rain. HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Asthma should always be taken seriously. It can be difficult with asthma, though, because you can be fine one moment and sick the next. If your asthma gets worse around perfumes, etc., there’s nothing that I know of that CAN help. I have severe asthma, and I can’t be around that either. I’m 65 and I think, sometimes, that people think my asthma can’t be really as bad as it is. I’ve been hospitalized twice in a couple of months for over a week each time.
